Global NCD Alliance Forum (Dubai, UAE) December 2017

NCD Synergies led a panel on “Addressing NCDs as a Barrier to Poverty and Development” looking critically at country-led solutions to address NCDs and poverty reduction in low-resource settings.

World Diabetes Congress (Abu Dhabi, UAE) December 2017

NCD Alliance: Our Views Our Voices Workshop (Geneva, Switzerland) October 2017

NCD Synergies Program Manager Maia Olsen accompanied four patient advocates from Haiti and Ethiopia to participate in the global OVOV workshop in Geneva, which produced an Advocacy Agenda for People Living with NCDs.  

PIH NCD Cross-site meeting (Boston, USA) October 2017

NCD Synergies Team hosted a 4-day conference bringing NCD policymakers and implementers from across PIH sites to Boston for knowledge sharing and strategy sessions on integrated NCD care delivery. 

NCDFREE Advocacy and Innovation Bootcamp (Boston, USA) September 2017

Co-hosted by NCD Synergies and NCDFREE at Harvard Medical School, with over participants across the Boston area attending to learn about NCD advocacy. 

American Diabetes Association (San Diego, USA) June 2017

NCD Synergies Research Specialist Chris Noble presented an abstract on type 1 diabetes service delivery models in low-resource settings.

Inshuti Mu Buzima, PIH’s sister site in Rwanda had 2 panelists and 11 abstract submissions.

World Congress of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Health (Mexico City, Mexico) – June 2016

Unite for Sight: Global Health and Innovation Conference (New Haven, Connecticut) – May 2016

NCD Synergies colleagues at Kenya Ministry of Health presented project highlights from their proposed revisions of national NCDI Metrics, as well as presented to Harvard colleagues in Boston that same week.   

East Africa Diabetes Study Group (Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania) – March 2016

Inshuti Mu Buzima, PIH’s sister site in Rwanda presented a poster on their integrated NCD model and work in diabetes. 

Launch of The Lancet NCDI Poverty Commission (London, United Kingdom) – January 2016

NCD Synergies Director, Dr. Gene Bukhman is a co-chair of the Lancet Commission; PIH CEO Dr. Gary Gottlieb is a commissioner. Meetings have continued through 2017-2018 to facilitate the research, writing, and editing process – besides London, locations have included Kigali, Rwanda, Dubai, UAE, and Boston, MA. 

2015

World Diabetes Congress (Vancouver B.C., Canada) – December 2015

Zanmi Lasante, PIH’s sister site in Haiti presented on their work providing treatment for type 1 diabetes.

Ministry Dialogue – targets and metrics for NCDs (Nairobi, Kenya) – May 2015

NCD Synergies co-hosted with Kenya Ministry of Health. 

WHO Dialogue on NCDs and Development Cooperation (Geneva, Switzerland) – April 2015

NCD Synergies team attended and participated in dialogue, and supported attendance for multiple Ministries of Health (Rwanda, Malawi, Tanzania, and Kenya). 

6th Annual CUGH Global Health Conference (Boston, USA) – March 2015

PIH Co-Founder and Chief Strategist, Dr. Paul Farmer, was a featured speaker.

World Innovation Summit for Health (Doha, Qatar) – February

About NCD Synergies

NCD Synergies is a project of Partners In Health that collaborates with health planners, researchers, and implementers to collect, develop, and share the information and tools needed to prevent and treat noncommunicable diseases and injuries in settings of extreme poverty. NCD Synergies is a community of support for those on the leading edge of expanding care for NCDs and injuries in low and middle-income countries with a focus on poor, vulnerable, and remote populations.
